Molix Twin Tail Prawn Lure 5 Inch

Bring your soft plastic fishing to life with the Molix Twin Tail Prawn 5 Inch, a realistic prawn imitation designed to tempt flathead, barramundi, mangrove jack and other hard-fighting Australian predators with natural movement at even the slowest retrieve speeds.

The Molix Twin Tail Prawn 5 Inch is a versatile, unrigged soft plastic fishing lure featuring a detailed prawn profile, realistic appendages and a distinctive twin-tail design. Its two highly mobile tails produce subtle vibrations and lifelike swimming action, making it an excellent choice for anglers targeting larger estuary and inshore predators. Whether you're working shallow flats, creek mouths, mangrove edges or deeper structure, this 5-inch prawn lure offers a substantial profile without requiring an aggressive retrieve.

Designed for versatility, the Molix Twin Tail Prawn can be rigged on a conventional jighead for open-water presentations or weedless for fishing around mangrove roots, rock bars, timber and snag-filled waterways. Its durable soft plastic construction helps withstand repeated casts and strikes, while the twin tails continue working during slow retrieves and controlled drops. Suitable for targeting flathead, barramundi, mangrove jack, bass and cod, this soft plastic gives Australian lure anglers multiple presentation options in one practical four-pack.

Expert Advice

The Molix Twin Tail Prawn 5 Inch is particularly useful when fish are feeding close to the bottom or holding tight to structure. Its twin tails are designed to remain active at slow speeds, so there's no need to constantly twitch or aggressively work the lure.

For flathead: Rig the prawn on a jighead suited to the water depth and current. Cast across sand flats, channel edges and drop-offs, allowing the lure to reach the bottom before working it back with short lifts and controlled pauses. Keep an eye on your line as the lure sinks, as flathead can strike during the drop.

For barramundi and mangrove jack: Try a weedless presentation around mangrove roots, submerged timber, rock bars and creek edges. A slow, steady retrieve with occasional pauses allows the twin tails to produce movement while keeping the lure in the strike zone. Choose a hook and leader appropriate for the fish and structure you're targeting.

For bass and cod: Work the lure around submerged timber, rocky banks and deeper holding areas. Experiment with slow rolling and gentle lifts, particularly when fish are reluctant to chase faster-moving presentations.

Rigging tip: Make sure the hook runs straight through the body so both tails can move freely. Avoid using an unnecessarily heavy jighead in shallow water, as a slower, more controlled presentation can help the prawn look natural. When fishing heavy cover, check that your weedless hook leaves sufficient clearance for a reliable hook-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What fish can I catch with the Molix Twin Tail Prawn 5 Inch?

The Molix Twin Tail Prawn 5 Inch is designed for targeting Australian predatory species including flathead, barramundi, mangrove jack, bass and cod. Its realistic prawn shape and subtle twin-tail movement make it particularly suitable for estuary and river fishing, although it can also be used around freshwater structure and inshore environments.

Can the Molix Twin Tail Prawn be rigged weedless?

Yes. The Molix Twin Tail Prawn comes unrigged, allowing anglers to choose between a conventional jighead and a suitable weedless hook. Weedless rigging is useful when fishing around mangrove roots, submerged timber, rocks and other snag-prone areas. For open water, a standard jighead provides a straightforward option for working the lure near the bottom.

What is the best way to retrieve the Molix Twin Tail Prawn?

A slow, steady retrieve is an excellent starting point because the twin tails create movement even at ultra-slow speeds. For flathead and other bottom-feeding predators, try short hops followed by pauses that allow the lure to sink naturally. Around structure, slow rolling with occasional pauses can keep the soft plastic in the strike zone without excessive movement.

Does the Molix Twin Tail Prawn 5 Inch come with hooks or jigheads?

The Molix Twin Tail Prawn 5 Inch is supplied as an unrigged soft plastic lure in a pack of four. Hooks and jigheads are not included. This allows you to select a suitable jighead or weedless hook based on your target species, fishing depth, current and preferred presentation. Match your hook to the lure's body and ensure the twin tails can move freely.
