Expert Advice

For Murray Cod fishing, cast the Lucky Craft Sammy Bug 75 beyond likely holding areas such as submerged timber, fallen trees and snag-lined banks. Allow the lure to settle before beginning a controlled retrieve with short, rhythmic rod-tip movements to create its walking action and distinctive metallic sound.

Experiment with retrieve speeds and pauses to find what triggers a response. A slower presentation with occasional pauses can help keep the lure in the strike zone around structure, while a more consistent walking retrieve can be useful when searching larger areas of water. The fizzer tail adds another element of surface attraction as the lure moves.

Pair the Sammy Bug 75 with a suitable Murray Cod baitcast or spinning outfit capable of comfortably casting a 23g lure. Use an appropriately strong leader when fishing around timber and heavy structure, and be prepared for explosive surface strikes.
